林清玄的菩提路

一、心灵的空虚

林清玄在开始学佛之前，曾一直担任台湾《中国时报》的记者，后来又升为主编、主笔。但是在林清玄的眼里，职位看似越来越高，但心灵却愈来愈空虚，工作量很大，一天到晚忙个不停。如云：“随着年龄日渐增大，志趣愈来愈小，不知道将来的日子要如何过下去。于是，我心想，如果我能重新回到青年时代，不知道自己会用什么态度来面对社会?”③正是这样没日没夜的工作，才导致林清玄的头发快掉光了，人发胖，肌肉松弛，这种情形不禁让林清玄陷入了沉思。

二、文章的意境

确实，在生活上，林清玄并没有遇到什么难题，遇到的困难都只是内心的关卡，那就是如何突破生活的层次，文章的意境。在写作问题上，如云：“最初写作，我也总是围绕着自己的朋友、爱情等零碎的琐事上大做文章。一段时间之后，我写不下去了，你一直告诉读者你自己、家人以及你的朋友在干吗等等，这有什么意义呢?”④当林清玄意识到自己的文章是很平淡的时候，他开始反思写作的方向。因为童年时代受到过宗教的熏陶，所以林清玄对佛经还是有一些知识层面的了解。如云：“信佛之出，我曾很积极地想传扬佛法。后来知道该顺其自然，不要强迫别人来信，要在别人因为你的改变，主动询问时，再告诉他佛法的殊胜，否则，你还没来得及把菩萨道的观念传播出去，别人已经被吓跑了。”⑤

三、感情的破碎

根据林清玄的自白，自己走向佛学道路，与自己的婚姻也有密切的关联。如云：“在我几十年的婚姻生活，就好像走入泥泞之地，或者陷进流沙，愈走愈荒凉、愈来愈深陷，我感到非常的痛苦和恐怖。”⑥林清玄以此想通过学佛来寄托其婚姻的痛苦，渴望能从菩提的智慧中，探求自己生命的身心安顿之法。如云：“在我生命最困苦的时候，也曾寻找过万灵丹，向天求告：‘请给我一帖灵药吧。’我曾乞灵于宗教，探寻生命的终极安顿之方;也曾炼丹于文艺，追求情爱的平息烦恼之法。”⑦经过感情的挫折，对情爱的描绘，也从往昔的迷醉痴情，提升至一种晴朗明净的境界。[2]

林清玄禅理散文的'艺术特色

一、对人强烈的好奇和热情

有人认为林清玄的多产是某几部宗教典籍，其实更重要的是他对人强烈的好奇和热情。林清玄曾说，小时候，他家在林厂里，要走很远的路才能看到另外的人家，因此总是盼望能见到人，对人非常敏感。直到写了很多书之后，他还是每天在发现人的奥秘，其中包括对自己的发现。读书的时候，我是有点仙风道骨，腰围只有二十四英寸，现在的腰围是三十二英寸，这么胖，不做菩萨也不行了。[3]林清玄在弘扬佛教教义的时候，把自己对人的种种发现连在一起，因此也反过来发现了佛教与人之间的活泼关系。这是这种发现，决定了他在表述方式上作出必须与人亲近，然后让人觉悟的选择。由此他提供了一种令人瞩目的写作生态。 二、对佛学思想的独特体验

三、对佛学经典的深入探究

对于佛学经典，林清玄曾明言：“我的文章不是佛教思想的研究，因为我注重学解的佛教，很容易专门化、复杂化，不能满足我们对宗教实践的渴望与景仰。我期望的不是提出个人的主张或思想，而是唤起人人自我的觉悟。”[5]由此可见，林清玄的写作行为首先是道义行的，而不是技术性的。正是基于这一点，使林清玄对佛学经典的阐述发人深省。林清玄以获得身心的终极安顿的理性境界制造了一个动态的实践历程，在这个过程中企图以积极有效的行动，把个人、群众与社会从问题丛生的状态中，转变到佛法共证的神圣境界中，用来消除或改造现实生活中的各种窘困状态。[6]林清玄自觉认识到身为作家的责任而不单纯是佛家宣扬者的身份，所以在阅读佛经，审视现实生活时常常有火中慧影的发现。
